Blogging Insights: #47

This week Dr Tanya’s questions are

How important is your blog traffic to you?

How often do you check your stats?

Which part of your blog traffic, the views, likes, comments or follows, is important for you personally? Which of these do you think is most important for your blog? (these could both be the same)

It’s nice to know that people read my blog, so traffic is important.
However, not all posts appeal to everyone so something I may have written that I was pleased with might not get such as good a response as something else.

I check my stats every day, but they are not the be all and end all of my blog. It used to be when I started as I didn’t understand anything else. Then figures started dipping and I thought I’d ‘lost it’ until I realised that the way they were being recorded had changed. I was still pleased that people read my writings though.

Comments are most important to me as I like to know what people think, even when they don’t agree. We all see things differently, but even if we don’t agree with the writer, there are ways of saying so without being nasty. I appreciate constructive criticism and take such comments on board. Likes are always nice though!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I agree that he comments are the most important part of blogging. I haven’t checked my stats in about 6 months. I probably should look to see if I have over 100 followers!

  3. Although comments are the best, likes give you a nice feeling too; a bit like a smile from a total stranger.
