The front door slammed shut and the familiar ‘Hi Honey, I’m home!’ rang out in the hall.
There was the usual toss of keys onto the waiting dresser, whoosh of the coat being hung up on the hook and shuffle of shoes being removed and slippers put on.
‘Where are you?’
‘Up here.’
Shaun came up the stairs and followed the voice.
‘What the hell??????’ he exclaimed when he saw his wife stood by the window.
‘Hi love, I’m just thinking.’
‘O…K………. But you’re wearing a box!’
‘Yeah, I know.’
‘Whatever for?’
‘A different perspective.’
‘What?’
‘You’re always saying to think outside the box, so I thought I’d put myself IN one and see if I could work things out.’
‘And………………..?’
‘It’s dark in here………………’

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Hehe! Thinking outside the box put her in one! This made me immediately think “She’s not the brightest bulb in the box”…
