I dream of toilets

No, there is not going to be some toilet humour here, just my response to Fandango’s question this week:

What has been the strangest, weirdest dream that you can remember? What do you think triggered that dream?
I’ve had a few doozies in my time, but the weirdest has always been toilets.
I got very good at analysing my dreams, and the ‘rest room porcelain’ always raised its lid when I was most stressed.

The toilets in question would range from cubicles with no doors let alone toilet tissue, no floors, doors leading to more doors and cubicles with no sanitary furniture, endless corridors of doors, toilets half way up the wall, urinals in the ladies at eye level, and the weirdest of all was an upside down toilet on the ceiling. Now I took that as someone either wanted to 5 hit on me from a great height, or the solution to the desire was totally impossible.
Either way, I surmised that when I dreamed of toilets in this manner, it was because I could not find a way to relieve the pressure I was under.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. That IS an odd stress dream. I dream of toilets too, but usually for the usual reasons. In the dream I can never find one that works, or they are so filthy and disgusting looking I wouldn’t touch them in the first place. I usually wake up and have to run to the loo. I haven’t had one in a while, but I wonder now if I will tonight? Ha!

  2. I have had many dreams about toilets also and like Melanie, as soon as I wake up I have to go.

  3. John Holton says:

My dreams usually end in the bathroom. Usually a public restroom.

  4. Fandango says:

The only time I dream about toilets is when, in my dream if I have to pee. But I always wake up in time go go to the toilet in my bathroom and not in the “dream toilet.”

  5. Sadje says:

This is very interesting to dream of toilets.

  6. My weirdest dreams usually involve me having to find something in the shopping mall, but my access will be somewhat limited, such as not being able to find the door or elevator. The only reason I remember these things is because I journal first thing in the morning, lol. Thanks for sharing your dreams!

That is certainly the strangest! When I’m stressed I am always in HS and can’t remember my locker combination, in college and can’t find the room/building for the final exam. I also discover that I haven’t attended any of the classes or have a final exam for a class I never signed up for! Yes – stress will play games with our dreams!
