(For visually challenged reader, the image shows a person walking in a desert, dwarfed by huge sand dunes. A long line of their footsteps can be seen behind them)
The Sands of Time
I can feel you in the vastness of my being.
Your footsteps tickle my senses,
And it would not take much to engulf you.
You walk head down, troubled, alone,
Whereas I…………..?
I consist of trillions, shifting in the wind.
Should I embrace you and give you comfort?
My undulations offer you shade,
I absorb your footfall and resist the pressure.
You have a destiny at my boundaries,
Thus you shall have safe passage
As your thoughts merge and argue in your head.
My vastness is your sanctuary,
I am, the Sands of Time.
It is not for me to take your life,
But to protect it.

About pensitivity101
I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes!
We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too.
From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives.
We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
This is beautiful and scary at the same time 💜
When I saw the image, I only saw part of it and thought it was satin sheets, so when it turned out to be sand, I had to have a rethink!
Lol you did well 😂
thanks
💜💜
I saw ripples of milk chocolate first, then the whole picture.
Beautiful story.
Thanks Lauren. My mind was going towards passion between the sheets and then I realised it was sand! Not quite the same thought process!!
But oh, chocolate………………………………..!!
Very evocative of Death…
Thank you
