Melanie and Roger are our hosts for the double whammy SYW Q&As
So without further ado, here we go with this week’s questions

These are Roger’s HP questions

  • What happened to cause you to discover ‘bullies” were real?
Grammar school and the realisation my sister was one
  • Eavesdropping- When given the chance, how often do you eavesdrop?
I’m not comfortable with it, even by accident, so wouldn’t.
  • Escalators, at one time, were the ‘next big thing’. When was the last time you rode an escalator?
I honestly can’t remember, but I do recall an instance in Hamleys Toy Store in London where Hubby and I had a yard of marshmallow and started at opposite ends. We ended up kissing in the middle before we reached the third floor.
  • Have you ever ‘let’ someone win in a sports competition or a board game? How did it turn out?
I’m not a good loser as a rule, but recognise when someone’s confidence is slipping, so likely to have played some dumb moves on purpose and be gracious if they win.

and these are Melanie’s Muggle Questions:

She says “I’m very short on time today (Sunday) so I’m borrowing from Rory and Sandmanjazz to fill the questions today”

Do our fears start with our DNA?  (Credit to Rory)
I answered this for Rory and said No, as my fear of spiders is not inherited, but developed when my sister threw one at me. I still have the occasional nightmare about them in my hair and creeping over my face, but my tolerance has improved in respect of the little ones.

If you could have your hair any colour for 24 hours, what colour would you choose?  (Credit to Sandmanjazz)

When do you think a person gets old?  (Credit to Rory)
When they cease to laugh at themselves. I’ve read other answers since my original response, and agree you’re as old as you feel. Sometimes I feel 90, other times 20 something. I remember my Dad telling my Mum he felt like a 16 year old and she told him he couldn’t have one.

GRATITUDE SECTION  (as always this is optional)
I am grateful to have so many happy memories of my parents.
They would have celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary this year.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    Nicely answered Di.

  2. Thanks Di for Sharing Your Wonderful World with everyone today! I now have the cutest mental image of you and your hubby, eating a long marshmallow string and, like Lady and the Tramp and their spaghetti, meeting in the middle! ❤ Oh that's gonna tickle me for a long time! You're a bit lucky to know where your spider phobia began, I have no idea, I just know I've been freaked out by spiders my whole life. Your parents look wonderfully happy in that photo and obviously were very happy together. What a lovely memory for you!

    • They would have celebrated their 46th anniversary the year Dad died. I am comfortable with the thought that they’re together again now and have visions of them having the occasional tipple of Dad’s homebrew with FIL

  3. I love your answer where your mom told your dad that he couldn’t have one.

Lol @ the dad joke! 😂

  5. murisopsis says:

Good answers! I think you’d look good with pink hair!
