It has been an interesting start to the day as we are experiencing beautiful sunshine when we were expecting overcast skies and showers.
The plan was to go and fetch some wood trim for the new table and Hubby needed some special grease. I needed a new kitchen timer as the one we have works sometimes, and that’s when we haven’t set it.
Hubby’s shopping list came up with a fat ZERO, but I got a cute little ladybird timer for £3.70. It requires no batteries as you wind it up then turn back, and works like a charm.
Onward to the next town then and Hubby got the strips he wanted…….. sort of……… plus some shelving so that he can add shelves to his small bookcase for storage. Like the boat, there is very little storage here and the bedrooms aren’t exactly big enough to house chests of drawers or large wardrobes. We don’t have a lot anyway, but shelving is always useful.
The grease he wanted was as common and cheap as chips before lockdown, and now it’s like asking for the moon, if the assistant knows what you’re talking about in the first place.
Three days ago Hubby was after a specific spanner and once again it was like asking for some alien life force, though eventually he found an outlet that could supply it…… with a month’s wait. Hubby being Hubby thought outside the box, spent the princely sum of £2.60 so if his idea backfired it wouldn’t have broken the bank, and made something for the job. It works perfectly.
Anyway, he ends up buying a large can of the grease he needs for £6. Chances are the toothpaste tube size he was after would have cost pretty much the same as if you want something small, it usually has a large price tag.
Back home and lunch of chili and rice, with our tomatoes and our onions. I added a carrot as well as the garlic and tin of red kidney beans, so there is plenty for tomorrow. I’ll do rice again for Hubby, but I’ll have mine with a baked potato and extra veg (as left).
