The rain and the drain

I’ve written about this before both some time ago and recently about stormy weather when we were in the cottage and our soakaways not doing the job. This resulted in a flooded drive, and Hubby sitting on the ground days later with a shovel digging a trench whilst I wheeled the dirt round to the bottom of the back garden. We put in 150 meters of agricultural drain pipe, then fed the down pipes from the gutters into it. The next heavy rain saw us with puddling, but not to the same extremes and in minutes of the rain stopping, it had all gone.

When I had my surgery last year, I had a drain fitted and carried it around in a nifty little shoulder bag for a week. Hubby emptied it for me every day, and once the liquid was at an acceptable level, it was removed. I was glad I only had to have it for the week as I was not what they termed as ‘mushy’ as they thought, though if I’d had less liquid loss, the drain would’ve come out earlier.
Ill health is draining, so for anyone feeling under the weather, unwell or recovering from surgery. positive vibes are being sent your way for a fast recovery.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
