Blogging Insights #44: Drafts

TODAY’S QUESTIONS from Dr Tanya are:

How many drafts do you have in your ” Drafts Folder” right now?

Do you always complete a post that you draft?
Eventually. Sometimes I’ve prepared a post but I’m not quite happy with it so will leave it a day or so and come back to it, or like today, I’ve set up the challenges I enjoy and links to the relevant sites whilst I work my way through my reader. Just as I’m getting near the end of new posts, a notification that 13 new posts are ready, and shortly after that it was 16!

Is it a good idea to leave your unfinished drafts hanging around or should you delete them after some time, if so, how long?
I have the Song Lyric Sunday list of upcoming themes as a draft but that is for referral only. It was pure error that my WIP got posted, and received so many likes!!
I have one in my folder that dates back to February 2019. It’s all to do with symbols and most of them don’t work, so I guess if it’s still there tomorrow when the block editor is due to invade my space, I ought to either post it and shelve it.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I do the same as you, make drafts of all the prompts that I am going to write on.

  2. So they’ve notified you of when you’re being switched over? Man. I hope they continue to over look me! I do hope the new editor works for you, because there’s rumors that Fandango is going to cut way back on his blogging due to frustration over that awful editor. I’d hate to ‘lose’ you too!

    • No, they haven’t actually. I read on someone’s blog that it was rumoured to start on Sept 1st with no advance warning. We shall no doubt see, but at the moment I have no plans to go anywhere, so I’ll still be around!.

  3. I have drafts much older than a year in my folder.

I guess I do my future posts like drafts. That way there is a dead line to force me to finish them or they will post “ready or not here I come”!

I have a lot in drafts, but most are just titles of challenges that I never got around to doing. I should just take a day to clear them out, plus a lot of other blog maintenance I never do. But then I’d be behind on all the current stuff. 🙂
