But in the nicest possible way of course.
I mentioned in my ‘Today is……… ‘ post earlier that we were having pork chops with stuffing (if I had any) and a certain person asked if she could come to dinner.
Well Lorraine, this post is for you.
I surpassed myself.
I cooked the chops as I always do, in water in a frying pan, nice and slowly so that they cook all the way through and remain moist.
I put our new potatoes, baton carrots and green beans in a saucepan and added a generous sprig of mint from the garden.
My stuffing mix was out of a box which said it made about 12. I got 10 out of it which made the sums easy for calculating the syn value. Each 25g of made up stuffing mix attracts 1Β½ syns, so as my box was 170g, I rounded it up to 175g for my figures. That equated to 7 x 25g, so 7 x 1.5 syns, which is 10.5 syns for the whole box. So one stuffing ball was calculated at having 1.05 syns. I rounded that down to 1 syn each.
I sprayed a little oil into another frying pan, and put my balls in it (get your minds out of the gutter!) turning them often so that they didn’t catch. The whole meal took 25 minutes to cook and about five minutes before I was ready to serve, I sliced one of our onions and added that and a stock cube to the liquid with the chops to make my gravy.
Wonderful. The one centre left is the biggest and that has your name on it Lorraine.
These are my stuffing balls, and this is my 2 syn dinner today
We have six stuffing balls left which we’ll have sliced in a baguette with some chicken later.
Dinner looks lovely, if my tummy bead not doing summersaults π
Oh Willow. Are you on liquids only?
No but couldn’t eat much at all π
Poor you.
Willow ??! Are you ill? Hope it’s not anything too serious.
Long story short, I am suffering from gall bladder trouble, been in and out of hospital since June, I am sporting a cholecystectomy drain and bag. I see the drs again 1st September hopefully to get a date for removal of gall bladder, stone and cholecystectomy bag. Sooner rather than later I hope π
fingers crossed you get a date now
I do hope so π
Well, aren’t you having fun! Not. Hang in there, Willow. Hugs.
Thank you CM, did I say we also lost mother in law to Covid 19 on the brain, just after her 100th birthday! We’ve had better years ππππ
No, I didn’t know that, either, Willow. Sorry for your loss. 2021 will have to be better.
Yes indeed it bloody better be or I shall be complaining βΊοΈ ππππ
Looks yummy. I got a couple of those white porcelain-coated frying pans. No oil is ever needed (in fact, you can’t use oil with those pans), and nothing ever sticks. Sometimes I add a bit of water, stock (or wine) to keep the meat moist while cooking. The only drawback is that since you can’t use oil with those pans, you can’t crisp up stuff like fried potatoes – for that I go back to the regular stainless steel pan and then just deal with the cleanup later.
I haven’t cooked a traditional roast for years. I don’t count Christmas as we have turkey steaks with all the trimmings, but these days Hubby can’t eat fatty foods so fry ups and roast spuds are out, not that we’d have them anyway. Do those frying pans work on electric rings?
Yep. We have an electric stove.
I’ll look out for one
That looks really delicious!! You are the most amazing cook, Ms. Di. I hope hubby appreciates your skill!
He does that, but he can cook too, and his liver and bacon is totally delish!!
Now I’m hungry π
don’t look at the cake post!!!!!
Thanks for the warning! π
WOW Di. Those balls look delicious. I canβt see them properly, but can hear them lol and smell them. Thankyou for my lively dinber Di. Amazing Xxxx
The biggest was yours.
Ah! WONDERFUL. Thanks Di. I can taste it π
That looks so tasty! I am craving cooked carrots now – I think that will go on the menu for next week!
