Today is Sunday 23rd August

And I have the majority of the day to myself!!
Hubby has gone off with a friend to the shooting range about 30 miles away, so while the cat’s away, mousey will play……… well sort of.

Our neighbour sent me a text saying the neighbourhood tabby cat had left another calling card. Apparently it sits on her raised veg plot frame and defiantly stares at her through her patio doors after leaving a dead mouse in the dirt.
I offered to dispose of the corpse, which turned out to be a little field mouse. I don’t mind mice, as long as they’re not indoors. You might like to read here, here, and here
I’ll wait…………….

Now that I’ve hopefully made you smile (especially the third post referral which still makes me chortle), time to get on with the day.

I honestly don’t know what to do first.
I’ve done the washing and hoovered right through, and will be having a large jacket (baked) potato with cheese and mixed veg for my dinner.
Hubby had his breakfast as usual and I hope his upset tummy from yesterday has settled down. He was having an affair with the porcelain and lost 2½ pounds.  I am jealous of the weight loss, but not the reason behind it of course, especially as he seems to be eating all day whereas I am struggling keeping to my food plan to get back in control of my weight and just have to look at the wrong thing for a pound to appear.
Now that the puzzle is finished, I have the dining table free so I could do some cards. I was thinking of my aunt who kindly sent me some more woolly hats, and if she would be able to get out to buy Christmas cards. I have loads of trimmings so could easily put together a dozen and post them off to her.
I could also have a session on the keyboard as I haven’t played for a while. Might help my nerves and ease the frustration as Maggie is being an absolute pain in respect of letting us wash her feet and give her her meds. Both of us got angry with her this morning, so all being well she will have a sleep and we can start the day afresh. The good news there is that the inflammation and swelling seems to have gone down. We take her back to the vet tomorrow for a follow up appointment,

Keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I had a boyfriend who struggled to gain weight. He ate constantly. Not fair.

    • I hate him already!!. I knew a girl like that too. Hubby has found eating a small main meal and snacking for the rest of the day is helping keep his reflux in check. We’ve agreed that we each get our own breakfast, I cook the meal for midday, then we sort ourselves out for the remainder. It works and saves me going in and out of the kitchen and getting tempted. We have no goodies in the cupboards now, and the popcorn I treat myself to is 6 syns a bag so I can manage those. He has the nuts, rice cakes and currently cookies which he bought yesterday…… 2 packs for £1.50 so that’s 10 at 14 and a half syns each. I haven’t touched them.

I did get a good laugh reading the previous posts! We lived with a corn field behind our home. One day my mother saw a mouse in the cupboard causing her to do a little screaming. My father put out a couple traps (baited with peanut butter). The next day the traps were untouched but the mouse was dead with a dusting of gold on his whiskers – seems he chewed through a little cellophane packet of dry Chinese mustard. That stuff was spicy HOT and it confirmed my suspicions that it was lethal!
