Song Lyric Sunday 23rd August

Jim’s theme for today is – Above/Below/Between

Because I couldn’t think of a personal favourite which is how I usually determine my choices, I’ve cheated a little this week and looked up a song with BETWEEN specifically in the title.
I’ve come up with this………….. and WOW! It packs a punch.
A song I’ve never heard before by an artist I am not familiar with, though reading about her on WIKI (source) she is a very talented lady playing piano, guitar and ukulele as well as a singer/songwriter. I have only heard of her song BRAVE, and that too knocked my socks off.

In “Between the Lines”, Sara Bareilles ponders her relationship with a man she loves but has never quite gotten the chance to be with, even after countless close calls. Recently learning of his interest in someone else, she’s left brokenhearted, reflecting on their blurry relationship.

The song, written in 2007, was the last Bareilles wrote before going into the studio to record her debut major-label album, Little Voice. It’s a piano-driven ballad, one of many that contributed to what is now widely-seen as her signature sound.

“Between the Lines” also serves as the title of Bareilles’s first live album, recorded at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA and released as both a DVD & CD in November 2008.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

One of my husband’s favorite artists… She does manage a beautiful voice and sings with great emotion.

  3. It is nice to find new music and I like this song also Di. It is sad about the lovers always missing the chance to be together, but it is wonderful to be able to take that sadness and use it for a song.

  4. Yes she is a fabulous singer/songwriter. Lovely song you chose Di ☺️
