Dr Tanya has asked for 3 tips for new bloggers in her Blogging Insights series.
Pensitivity101 will be seven years old on September 1st. It was Hubby who got me started and he told me to have fun.
1. Have fun.
That is the main thing, because if you don’t enjoy it, it will come out in your writing.
You can write about anything, any length, everyone is different, but each of us has something of interest to someone else. Be honest, be yourself, but have fun.
2. Don’t try to be too clever or complicated.
Graphics and photographs are great in a post, but don’t get carried away as they can detract from your writing if they are too big or too many. When you’re just starting out, write about things you’re familiar with, the heavier in depth stuff can all come later.
3. Comments.
Be polite. Post comments on other bloggers’ sites if something has interested you, and acknowledge any that come into yours. Many bloggers love the interaction, myself included, it gets you recognised, and can also give you more tips as to how to develop your blog in your own style.
I’ll also add that if there is something you’re not sure about in your blog or you’re having a few problems, don’t be afraid to ask. You’ll be surprised how many people have experienced the same things!
Very good points!
thank you!
Yes, yes, and yes! 🙂
thanks Ruth!
I agree!
Indeed these are excellent tips. I think the most important is the commenting and responding to comments. That is how you build community and make connections!
I thrive on the interaction between bloggers. Not only comments made on my blog or comments I leave on others but responding to the comments of other bloggers on posts too.
Great advice Di 💜
thanks Willow.

great points ! especially the one about having fun.
Thank you! I think it’s probably the most important for me, because if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, it becomes a chore, and that does reflect on us.
I think all of us personal bloggers who keep interacting with each other are all mainly around for the fun factor.
I think so too.

Our advice is pretty similar!
It is indeed.
You have made great points! I especially liked the first one. We think alike in that regard!
Thanks Melanie. Indeed we do!
These tips are really helpful
I’m pleased you found them so. Enjoy blogging, it’s half the fun!
I really like that you started with having fun. Sometimes I have to remind myself I’m doing it for me because I enjoy it, not because I want a high number of followers. The followers are only a bonus.
Stats are just numbers, but it’s the comments and participation of others that I enjoy most. The fact that someone read my writings and posted a comment makes it all worthwhile. If the time came when I didn’t enjoy what I was doing, I’d stop. Thanks for commenting.
