As my Fibbing Friday offering was about collective nouns, I remembered I wrote this last year about how many collective nouns there are for ducks, so I thought it was worth a reblog. You will see that none are listed in today’s FF post.
Hubby and I walked the dog round the park this afternoon, taking the last two slices of an old loaf for the ducks.
We were extremely popular as the water has frozen over again, and Hubby counted 88, yes eighty eight birds, and that did not include three opportunist seagulls, 2 moorhens and four Canada geese (the others hadn’t come back yet)
Made me think of collective nouns (see video) and I put this together, though I didn’t get them all in.
A flock of ducks is quite lame,
But then what’s actually in a name?
Fat or thin, big or small,
Fourteen collective nouns in all.
The logical best for ones that quack
I found out today is called a Twack.
Also referred to as a Pump
Another name is a Plump.
Some are made to make you blush,
But ducks are also known as a flush.
