This week, Michael is inviting us to relate a fairy tale……… with a twist:
The Unpleasant Fairy. Why is your fairy unpleasant?
‘If I’m a fairy, why can’t I grant myself a wish?’ Fee asked. ‘Everyone avoids me. I have no friends, and I heard that horrible elf tell everyone that I was one of the most unpleasant creatures to be around. I could cry.’
‘It’s just the way it is Fee,’ her grandmother replied. ‘We aren’t allowed to grant wishes for ourselves, or our families for that matter, so none of us can help you. If it’s any consolation, you’re very young, and you will grow out of it.’
‘But how long will it take? And why me??? It’s not very feminine is it? I mean, you would expect it of the males, they’re so much bigger and less dainty so they don’t have the job of flitting from flower to flower or tickling the noses of butterflies. I bet that elf is laughing his socks off at me, and I hate him for it. It’s not fair!’
The tears flowed then and Fee wiped them away angrily.
‘I love butterflies, but they wrinkle their noses at me and fly away. The flowers close up their petals and curl their leaves tight, shutting me out. What is my purpose if I cannot do the fairy things of my ancestors? ‘
‘It’s only temporary dear child, one of life’s glitches. And as for that elf? Well, when he’s a little older, he’s going to have more problems than your smelly feet, I can tell you!’ and she winked.
