For the visually challenged reader, the image shows the face of a woman. It is painted with luminous glitter paint and the features are highlighted with bright yellow lines, ending in a question mark on the forehead
For generations people had come to this wise Seer for guidance. No-one knew how old she was, or from whence she had come, but anyone who sought her out always returned with peace of mind.
The old woman stared sightlessly in Sally’s direction as she opened the door to her rooms.
“Come closer and step into the light. Do not be afraid. I may be shrouded in darkness, but I see what others cannot. Please, sit.
You are troubled and it preys heavily on your mind.
Your happiness is overshadowed by others, too many opinions from different quarters. Some are distant, but there is a firm division in your soul searching.
There is a calmness within, the subtle shadows glow with an inner strength you have yet to discover. You will not be swayed with platitudes or misguided feelings of judgement.
Your eyes see the truth and you speak of love. All is connected, thus you already know what is best for you and your unborn child.”
Sally hadn’t said a word, and taking the old woman’s gnarled hand in hers, she brought it to her lips and kissed it.
‘Thank you.’ she said simply.
This story is so moving Di. Thanks for your unique take on the prompt.
Thank you. I remembered a scene from Daredevil when he’s on the roof and it starts to rain. Although blind, he can ‘see’ an image of Elecktra through the rain. Guess I was thinking of that when I wrote my take.
Oh yes, I remember that too.
Nice effective use of the prompt.
Thanks for sharing.
thank you
