Two out of three are bad

Hubby had a weird sensation on his chest (not in it) and when he looked, the skin was fluttering! I joked that maybe he had an alien in there trying to get out, but asked if he was in any pain to which he said no.
From the opposite settee, I could see what he meant, so we recapped the day to see if anything could have caused it.
Checking up on the internet, there was a variety of reasons, including over exercise, so remembering our trip to the tip and all the rubble he had to lift out of the boot and into the skip, we wondered if maybe he’d pulled a muscle.

The thing was, it wouldn’t go away. He said it was annoying, but not painful, and then he had a drink of water and it started to ache.
No messing about, in the car and up to A&E. He’s on warfarin, so if he’d torn something inside, he could have a bleed, though there was nothing to indicate he had.
I’ve just got back and he’s still waiting for bloods to be taken at a second hospital. With no time frame available, it was pointless me hanging around in the car with the dog especially as we would have to pay 2 days parking by the time he was finished, so I came home. He feels fine in himself, not ill, nauseous, or dizzy so it could just be a muscle spasm, but best not to take any chances.

Maggie has not had a single walk today as she was favouring her front foot and was obviously in a lot of pain. We dosed her up with loxicom and checked her feet, finally finding what looked like a tiny thorn that was in the wrong place so that when she walked, she put pressure on it and it dug in even further. We’ve cleaned the site, disinfected it and applied the cream we have for foot infections. I phoned the vet for some more which they are sending in the post as we have enough for the weekend.

So two out of the three of us are out of commission, and my back is still playing up, so pass the painkillers please!

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Oh dear, I hope your hubby is ok and that you and Maggie feel better too. Will be waiting for news about all of you.

    • For some reason I am inexcusably hungry right now,so have had a small bowl of cereal. Hubby has text me to say he’s been X-rayed and bloods have been taken so it’s a question of waiting to get the call to collect him now

Did you miss a meal or snack today because of going to the hospital? Hope hubby gets the results quickly, everything’s ok and you can pick him up soon.

      • No, not really. I had a couple of crackers but nothing else for my third ‘meal’ but it’s been so hot today, it usually puts me off food, so that could be it. I feel better now but can’t put my head down as I’ll get reflux! Dog’s alright though, she’s snoring beside me!

        Awww, she is so sweet.

      • When she’s sleeping, she’s healing, so no worries there. I’ll apply more cream in the morning which should help and if she’s still in pain, another dose of loxicom which is an anti inflammatory

        Good plan.

How worrisome! I hope all is well and the weirdness is not something serious. Poor Maggie has had as rough a 2020 as the rest of us!

  6. I hope everyone recovers quickly. Take care.
