Today is Friday, 17th July

Congratulations to Princess Beatrice who has got married at Windsor Castle today in a private ceremony. Good for you!
Whilst the princess was tying the knot, we were out spending money.
Yep. I’ve got fed up being frugal, penny pinching and putting stuff on hold, so today we went shopping.
Sadly not for a shed. The goal posts have been moved on that again and now there are NO DATES in the offing for supply to store let alone delivery to the consumer.  Glad we didn’t part with our money then.

We were up early after a dreadful night for all three of us. Maggie was panting badly because she was so hot, even with the windows open and fan running, Hubby was in a lot of pain, and I was just hot and bothered. I think between us we were lucky if we got four hours sleep.
Anyway, after breakfast and walking the dog. we got in the car and drove 20 miles to the DIY store. Hubby went in while I stayed in the car with the dog. He was gone for about twenty minutes and came out all smiles towing a trolley.

We have a new baby. After cutting the grass yesterday and listening to the little mower’s heart struggling at times (plus having run over the flex earlier in the week out back which luckily did no damage as the blades are so blunt) Hubby went on the internet last night and found a petrol mower at a sensible price so we decided to get one.
We had to put the seat down in the back to get it in and Maggie was a bit miffed having to share her space, but we’ve given it a test drive and it’s great! Not much bigger than the electric one, but it’s easier to handle as there’s no flex to worry about, and little effort to push so easier on the back. The back lawn was cut in less than twenty minutes and it usually takes an hour (nobody passes by to chat like me yesterday!).
Hubby’s had a little shufty about in the Man Closet to get it in, and the ladder has now gone up in the roof. We’ll try and get a fiver for the old one, or offer it to a guy in the next road for spares as he’s always tinkering with something.

My apologies for being late accessing my blog and approving pingbacks for the challenges. I’m getting on that next and looking forward to seeing what you’ve come up with. I’ve already got a idea for my next outing, though I think I’m getting a little carried away.

Keep well and safe everyone

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I didn’t sleep either and was late getting up. Oh well, it’s not like I’ve got anything pressing. Congrats on the new lawnmower. Anything that’s easier on the back is worth having! Maybe your hubby should think of building a man cave from scratch. Bet he’d do a great job and he’d get exactly what he wants. More to the point, he’d actually get one.

  2. Quite the busy day! You got so much accomplished too! I’m sorry about the heat, but it will pass. I see my neighbors here gathering and chatting and I’m struck again at how much this virus thing has affected me…I’m even more reluctant to join in than before. I’m having a struggle even to go out (to the store or the doctor’s) at all. I’m not sure what can be done about it either. Your world sounds lovely right now! Enjoy your new mower and your lovely garden and of course, your Miss Maggie. So many good things to be thankful for! 🙂

    • It’s been a good day. I don’t blame you for being reluctant to join in. It was nice yesterday as everyone could keep their distance, but both of us are getting to the stage where we don’t want to go anywhere unless we have to..

Sorry you had a bad night – hope it is better tonight. You’re too hot and we’re too cold! 😀
Nice to find the mew mower and that it is easier and quicker 🙂

Well done getting the new mower. As for me I have been uncomfortable for a few days now.
The dressing on the drain was slipping and it’s all very uncomfortable, anyway I rang the hospital and they told me to ask my GP to look at it for me …I said that’s not easy to do at the moment but I did try. So I rang the surgery and said what the hospital suggested.
Anyway the Dr rang and asked me questions then when I said the hospital asked if they could see me she gave me an appointment with the nurse at 4.20 today
The nurse rang and asked me to come in at 3.45 so she would have more time to see me. All done now she did s better job than the hospital. I do feel more secure or and comfortable. 🥧💜

A new mower is a nice purchase! We switched from electric to gas a couple years ago. It was getting expensive to buy new extension cords twice a year. It has been beastly hot here – today hit 90 and its going to be over 100 tomorrow (not counting the heat index). I hope you can get cool enough to sleep tonight – sweet dreams!

    • Our electric one wasn’t too bad on power usage and we only went over the flex once, but didn’t do any damage. It’s muggy today, so I hope it gets cooler by bedtime!

A new lawn mower sounds great! I recently got one too! An electric one! I payed 130 euro for it in argos! Only bad part was you had to put it together yourself! What a bloody nightmare that turned out to be! But it works great!
