How do you define taste? Is it the flavour of something you eat, your choice of partner, or choice of decor? After all, we say food tastes nice, she has good taste in men (or he women) and taste when it comes to home furnishings.
Food is always close to my lips heart, and according to WIKI,
“ ………. on average the human tongue has 3000 to 10,000 taste buds.
There are five elements of taste
salty, sour, bitter, sweet, or umami (pleasant savoury taste )…………”
Can you imagine them having a punch up deciding what tastes better, Marmite or chocolate?
I did a series of posts on the senses. You can read the Taste one here.
I’ll warn you now, it is rather long, as were most of my early entries.
Over the years though our food tastes have changed, and whilst Hubby still loves Marmite and I don’t, sweet and salty food stuffs have taken a back seat, though we still have them occasionally.

Salty is more to my taste than sweet, and thank God for that.
I have to admit I have grown rather partial to sweet and salty popcorn. High in fibre, 120 calories/ 6 syns for the bag, and filling!!
That is one of my favorite too, but not the movie theater type.
We don’t go to the movies anyway, but the supermarkets do it at 52p a bag which is great for me. I never liked salted popcorn, usually the candy coated stuff (Butterkist in the UK) so quite surprised I took a liking to this when I was given some.
I only have popcorn with a movie. It sets the tone.
all part of the experience
Yes!
This made me smile. I like your sense of humor. 😀
Thank you. It has seen me through some ‘interesting’ times!
Sweet, sweet, and then sweet for me. LOL We have a popcorn you can buy that is lightly salty and lightly sweet. It is a great treat.
That’s what I’m having. Lovely!
So many ways to use the word taste! I didn’t realise our tongue has so many taste buds wow!
interesting isn’t it.
Marmite Chocolate? NOOOO, , Chilli Chocolate NOOOO! CHOCOLATE chocolate YESSSSS!
Hubby can have the Marmite, I’ll have the chocolate.
Hope you’re feeling better today.
Not really, I have the runs now 😵
Oh Willow. Poor you. Boiled eggs! My Mum always said boiled eggs helped to bind you. Are you allowed them?
Yes I am but Hubby made scrambled because I am very fussy about boiled eggs, the were very light and tasty. No milk an minimal butter
I scramble an egg for Maggie every morning in the microwave. No milk or butter added, just her glucosamine and a few small pieces of ham/cheese/chicken to disguise it!
I just had plain eggs 💜
Microwave is always easiest for me if I fancy some.
Yes for me too 💜
