Your line for this week is:

The open sky stretched from sand to horizon and the riders advanced on the oasis.

Tired and hungry, it seemed to take forever to get there.
The leader stopped and they all dismounted.
Each took a sip from their water reserves, swilling it round their parched mouths before swallowing.
‘Is it on the map?’
‘Yeah, but it’s no good to us. It’s almost dry, and what water there is doesn’t look too inviting.’
The leader checked their bearings then mopping brows and donning hats, they remounted.
‘Good job we have a different horse power than the generations before us.’
‘It’s been a good exercise though, gaining experience from their route and appreciating their hardships.’
‘Anyone for a pint? We can be back in civilisation in an hour.’
With a wave and a cheer, five bikers left the oasis in a cloud of dust.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
