Dinner and more cards

I had an early start to the day so got in a couple of posts before lunch.
We had a lazy dinner today with leftover veg aka tatty cake, baked beans, and spam.
Surprisingly, that wasn’t a ‘bad’ meal, as the veg and beans are considered free, and 100g of chopped ham and pork (which is what we had) attracts 8.5 syns for 100g.  I used half of a 340g tin for the two of us, so that was 85g each which equated to around 7.2 syns, so I’ve allowed 7½, well within my 15 allowance.

Spam dinner today

This afternoon I settled down to play with some of the stuff I bought the other day.
My first effort was a total disaster as it was something I hadn’t noticed and a picture in three panels. I used a gate card and some backing paper to fill it out, but I hadn’t lined things up properly and it looked AWFUL! There was no way I could salvage any of it, so it got thrown in the bin and I settled on something simple!
These were on the same sheet but are only single toppers, so it was just a case of using sticky tape, though I added a backing paper to the one on the left.
I made three (the other is the same size card but turned 90º as the picture was taller)

I dug around in my box and found some decoupage sheets I bought ages ago. I made two almost identical cards from each set using parts 1, 3 and 5 on one and 2, 4, and 6 on the other.
One of each design

But this is the biggy!
And I mean BIG, as I’d seen the kits last week but my cards were too small, so I bit the bullet and bought some 7 x 7 cards so that I could use them. I only made one today, and the other in this pack is the same picture, but in red.
I added the backing paper and ‘jewels’ on her headdress and arm band to finish it off.
I’m going to go back on Saturday to get some more because they are rather nice.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Love the “elegant lady” card ❤️

    • It is rather lovely isn’t it. There are two designs in four colours, but I remember seeing others similar when I was browsing. I get twitchy when several people are in the shop as it’s very small and not much space to move around, so I didn’t linger.

  6. I don’t think the one you didn’t like was so bad, but it’s down to you obviously what you want to keep. You have quite a talent! 🙂

    • It was truly awful Melanie so I binned it. Usually I can save some of my disasters, which I’m glad to say aren’t many, but this was a lost cause I’m afraid.
