Five Things Tuesday from Melanie

Melanie is our temporary hostess for Dr Tanya’s Five Things challenge today due to family bereavement.

Today our theme will be five flowers you admire (to give to someone or for yourself).

I love lilac, and the house over the road had a wonderful bush of it that is cascading over their fence.
All my pictures, top two of the bush and directly above a lilac tree blossom on the original Avenue walk when we were on the boat from 2016.

Pink Poppies

All my pictures from a walk in 2016

My pictures taken in 2015 in the Abbey gardens
or if you prefer colour,

My photos from 2018, blue flowers which are of the lily family

My Dad used to give my Mum 2 dozen red carnations on their wedding anniversary. I can only recall one year he didn’t and that was because he simply couldn’t afford them.

My photos: Hubby bought me these this week.

and finally

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. What beautiful flowers and beautiful photos! That lilac bush is AMAZING!! I planted two in my yard, the first spring/summer I lived here. Apparently they were set too close to the fence and neither have done really great (it gets too hot against that fence, even though it’s a vinyl fence in a light cream color). I’d LOVE a big fragrant bush like the one you shared! I love lilies and carnations too…carnations always remind me of my mother (although she loved lily of the valley best, but loved all flowers pretty much). Such a wonderful share! Thanks Di! 🙂

    • Most welcome Melanie. That lilac bush is so fragrant, you can smell it from our front door. The same house has honeysuckle in their back garden and the smell hit me the other evening when I was walking Maggie. Glorious.

I love all those too! My garden is not so diverse – we have day lilies, Tiger lilies, lily of the valley, hostas, and a random daffodil. I have iris but my husband hates them and this years I only had one spike with flowers… he had parked his garden hose on top of them!!!
