After the disappointing start, the day hasn’t turned out too badly.
While Hubby was outside working in the garden, I got into housework.
Not only did I hoover, but I dusted AND polished, so the house smells nice and fresh.
I put bleach down the loo and all the sinks, and had a good cleaning session. I felt really good afterwards!
Then I had an hour’s session on the piano. I can’t remember the last time I played, probably before the lockdown, or maybe once since. I hit the old musical favourites, then my rendition of The Terminator theme which only had two bum notes today, then my exercises of Ode to Joy, The Spirit is Willing and My Grandfather’s Clock, finally finishing off feeling very melancholy with Mum’s Wind Beneath My Wings.
Dinner was chicken curry, to which I added peppers and a forlorn onion casualty from Hubby’s digging, topping it with coconut when I dished up.
We got the washing done and dry outside in a couple of hours because it was so blowy, then had three games of darts of which I won two.
Our neighbour has just let us know that a notice has gone up on FB about the geese. Apparently it is down to wildfowl enteritis, a highly infectious disease with a high mortality rate. Birds are affected within three days of exposure and it affects chicks through to adults. It doesn’t sound too good for the remaining flock.
We’ve checked as best as we are able and Maggie should be safe. She is unlikely to eat or chew on the carcass of a dead infected bird (one thing we’ve always be pleased about is that she’s not a ‘sweeper’), but we will still be avoiding the park. I just hope someone from the council comes along and clears up all the bird shit though because it’s everywhere.
Almost final walk time now. It’s still blowy and very cold, but not cold enough to put the heating on. The insulation in these properties is amazing.

Oh dear. Doesn’t sound good for the birds. But glad they have put up a notice to say what it is. I hope they do a clean up, as hopefully it will help the remaining birds.
Glad your day turned out good.
I don’t know if a notice is in the park, the announcement was on FaceBook and our neighbour told us. They did put warnings up about the green algae last year though, so maybe they will. Such a shame all those young ducks and geese perishing.
Hopefully the council will put a notice in the park.
Yes, such a shame.
Other than the poor birdies, it does sound like you’ve had a good day!! Wonderful. All’s well that ends well 😊
yep. should sleep well tonight!
As well you should 😊
😀
Sorry to hear about the geese. Glad that your day improved 💜💜
We walked through the park today and if they’ve filled the lake up, it certainly wasn’t with water as the level’s still 2 feet lower than it should be. All the geese are at one end so we were able to avoid them and their mess. Still a shame to lose so many, especially the babies, though apparently a duck has got a new brood of 12 so I hope someone is keeping a careful eye on them.
It’s so strange all these horrible viruses surfacing right now. O find it most disconcerting. But I am glad you had a nice walk and it good news about the ducklings 💜
Hopefully some will survive
I helped the daughter of a friend pack up her household as she sold her house and the movers come on Wednesday!! I worked hard all weekend and today. I think she is squared away for the move but my feet hurt!
I bet. Nice you were able to help though. When we sold the boat we had nothing, so had to start from scratch.
Oh wow! I’m glad Maggie is going to be ok! I hope the council did something to clean up all that bird shit! 😉❤❤
We had a walk in the park the other day and ‘our end’ was pretty clean. However, as we walked through it, we saw all the geese, or those that are left of the flock, congregated at the other and the mess was horrendous. The water level wasn’t much higher either.
