It is now the early evening of Sunday 28th June

Finally I am sitting down to my blog.
All is good and we’ve had a productive day, Hubby being out in the garden extending our veg patch and me card making.
I posted my SLS choice early, and my intention was to make my cards in the morning and blog this afternoon. Hm. Obviously it didn’t quite work out that way and we all know what happens if we ever try to plan anything!!

I had a restless night getting very little sleep until about 5am. Maggie got me up at 4.45 desperate for a wee, but she wasn’t the reason for my sleeplessness. I’ve always managed to sleep really deeply between the hours 0f 6 and 8am, especially on the boat, and today was no exception, so I didn’t feel exhausted when it was time to get up.
After a shower, I walked the dog and had breakfast, or did I have breakfast and then walk the dog (having a boat moment), and there is still nothing like that first slurp of tea to get you going in the morning.

I was getting the kit out when both the landline and my mobile went off. The latter was a text message and the former Tom, an elderly boating friend.
His was one of the letters I’d dropped in the post last week so it was lovely to hear from him and know he’s OK. He hasn’t had a chance to go down to his boat obviously, but there’s hardly anyone he knows there now, and from what he was saying, we wouldn’t know any of the staff either as those we did have all left, and we’ve heard the marina is up for sale.

The text message was to let us know that another goose has died, making a total of 18 now, and finally someone has contacted the local press and TV station. We’ve been in touch with the council but they don’t know any more than we do, and can only confirm that DEFRA are investigating.

So, I started making my cards at 11.30 whilst Hubby was fighting off the blackbirds who wanted the worms he was turning over. It was pointless thinking of dinner until after he’d finished because I knew he’d be wanting a shower, so we had a late lunch at 2pm!  I did a corn beef hash today. We haven’t had one for ages, and it was quick and easy, only using one pan. Maggie had some corned beef too and has eaten well today.

I managed to make 2 cards before lunch, and another 8 afterwards so it’s been a good session today. Post and pics will follow shortly.

Take care and keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
