Saturday Mix – Rhyme Time, 27 June 2020

Sarah’s Saturday Mix Challenge:

This week we are “writing away, and having a play, with rhyming words for you today” with Rhyme Time.

‘Rhyme Time’ focuses on the use of rhyme to build your writing piece. You will be given six rhyming words* and need to use all of them (but not limited to these) in your response, which should be a poetry form of your choice.

*Homophones can be used as alternatives to the challenge words.

Our rhyming words this week are:

  1. save
  2. brave
  3. cave
  4. wave (or waive)
  5. gave
  6. grave

Shimmering diamonds, tears unshed,
These were the faces of the brave.
Trembling hands held on to each other
As they stood around the grave.
Thinking of times when all was bleak
And her Love was all she gave,
A Mother’s love, like nothing else,
A treasure they all could save.
And so they stood heads bowed and low
Turning for one last wave,
Steps were heavy, but hearts beat true
For Her, not one would cave.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Lovely! I like that you used cave as a verb rather than the noun. Thanks for joining in the Saturday Mix 😊
