Today is Wednesday 24th June

and it’s another scorcher so we’ve got the fan down from the roof to give us some respite during the day. The ceiling fan going all night is a godsend.

I was up at a sensible time, did my exercises, and took my blood pressure. Everything is looking good, even after exercises, but I’m very stiff in my back and can feel some swelling of the muscle on the left side. I’ve applied the usual cream and taken some paracetamol with plans to take things easier than easy as it hurts to walk the dog any distance. I have no idea what I’ve done, it could be twisting awkwardly in my sleep, stepping off the pavement wrong, or even washing the dog the other day as I had to lean over the bath. The good news there is that she is no longer crunchy and her bedding remains clean. We did have a little scare when I pointed out a hair mass behind her ear and when Hubby checked it out, said it was a lump. The next half hour or so was spent wetting the fur and teasing it out as far as possible, but in the end a huge knot had to be cut away, but it was fur, nothing else.

So, I have been doing some old fashioned letter writing this morning to some boating friends in their 80s who aren’t on-line and my 90 plus year old Aunt.

These were the ‘Hello’ cards I used today so hopefully they will brighten up their day when they hit the mat at the weekend.
The card shop in town was open yesterday so I went in and spent a few pounds on some trimmings. She had quite a lot of stuff, though some was quite big and the cards I have too small for them to fit. Pointless buying 50 cards for £5 to accommodate 2 toppers but I will go back when I get paid next week and have a more through browse.

Dinner today was a tomato bake for me and fish for Hubby. We seem fated with fish as the last piece I cooked turned out to be bad and I nearly poisoned him. It was weird as nothing smelt untoward when I took it out of the freezer or out of the oven. Luckily he spat it out before swallowing any and cleaned his mouth thoroughly. There were no repercussions, though I said if there was anything wrong with the next piece, I’d bin the lot. It was fine today, apart from being a mass of bones, so that ended up in the bin too.  I will not be buying fish for a while, or at least not that particular brand.

Not much else on the agenda today. The shed place on the industrial estate is no longer there, so we will be looking further afield afterall. Ho hum.

Keep safe everyone

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Sorry to hear the fish was inferior! We are having fish on Friday and I’m pretty sure it will be fine – cod loins. They too are frozen but skinless and boneless – very tasty. I’m so glad to hear that Maggie is back to normal!! That is very good news! The cards look lovely – I especially like the last one with the 2 little white butterflies. It looks very dainty!

    • I love butterflies and use them a lot in my cards.
Our fish is 100% cod fillets as Hubby can only eat cod (or tinned tuna) This particular brand had been out of stock for a while, so maybe there has been a decline in quality as well as production.
Yes, Maggie is good thank you. Not liking the heat much, but she’s found a cool corner under the window where there’s a nice breeze.

So sorry about your back. Mine was finally feeling better — until I sneezed last night and it went out again (sigh). Getting older is not for wimps, that’s for sure. The good news is — Maggie just had a matte!

    • Oh, the dreaded sneeze, I know how that feels! I’ve taken some ibuprofen to hopefully reduce the inflammation. I don’t take them often so should see an improvement in a day or so.
Yeah, getting old sucks, and since hitting 60, it’s all been downhill!!
That was a relief about the fur lump as thoughts of taking her to the vet again after such a short time was very daunting, bless her.

Love the cards Di, I like butterflies too I see them as hopes and wishes.
The fish sounds nasty , bad enough off but bones are a nightmare too.
As to your back I hope it recovers soon. 💜💜💜🤨💜💜

  4. Sorry to hear about the fish. I loved the cards, Di

Hubby had a lucky escape with the fish scare! Glad he wasn’t sick! Glad Maggie’s lump was just matted fur! Its so hard when you find a lump and your unsure of what it is!
