Today is Tuesday 23rd June

It’s another beautiful day here and looks like being a scorcher. We’ll take Maggie out for her first walk shortly, then for the majority of the day it will be the back garden as the pavements are likely to be too hot for her feet.

I had a relatively good night, having walked Maggie at 10pm, retiring to bed as soon as we got back and turning my light off just before midnight. I woke up at 1.20 but only fleetingly. Maggie had a good night too, and a lot of it could have been because I had the fan running all night to keep the room cool.  I’ve woken up feeling less tired though and ready to face another hot day.
The gel seems to be working on the inflammation on my leg, and we ordered our monthly meds today. Whilst in my records, we checked the results of my blood test last week, and everything is fine, so no DVT.

We were chatting to one of our dog walking friends the other day and the subject of sheds came up.  Apparently there is a firm locally whose prices seem reasonable for what we want so we’re going to have a look today.
There is also a local craft shop that is open three days a week, so I’m going to have a look in there for some card making materials. I have plenty of blank cards, it’s just things to put on them that I’m running low on. I tried one of the major craft chains on-line and once I got used to bouncing around their web site, there wasn’t that much of interest to me other than things like Happy Birthday stickers, numbers or letters, certainly not the decoupage compositions I like. Another has everything I like but are ‘in store only’ purchases. A bit difficult when the nearest is 35 miles away and likely to be shut anyway. Still, if our routine dental check up in August isn’t cancelled, we can have a detour!!

Still haven’t decided what to do with our quintet of homegrown potatoes today. Might nip into the supermarket here (if no queue) on the way back from the shed place and seek inspiration from the freezer section/oracle.

Onward with the day then.
Keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Enjoy your day. Sounds a lovely productive day.

  2. I miss going to the shops. Would get so many ideas from there.

    • I used to cut up the good bits on cards received and recycle them. The shop up the road was open today so I went in and spent a few pounds. There were some lovely 1920’s elegant ladies and gentlemen, but so big, I’d have to buy cards to fit them on, so not very practical. I’ve got something to ‘play with’ now though.

Great news about your blood work Di. And also that you got some sleep. Very hot here too, we’ve had heat warnings for days now.

    • It’s hot here and we’ve got the free standing fan going in the lounge. Maggie is quite content to lie in the line of fire sotospeak. Too hot to walk her, the temperature is 30 degrees outside and 24 indoors.

I’m going to make deer foot potatoes later this month – potatoes cored out and a sausage (I like apple and chicken) pushed into the middle. I usually bake them butwe might try to make them on the grill wrapped in foil…
