(For visually is reader, the image shows a castle at night, it’s turrets and towers reflecting moonlight. A cloudy sky can be seen in the backdrop.)

‘Look for the tower with the turret,’ Mimosa had told him. ‘ Go at midnight when the moon is half waned in the night sky, and she will be waiting for you.’
Eric stood in the shadows at the foot of the wall.
‘The one with the turret,.’ he mused to himself.
There were four towers, all with turrets, AND THEY WERE ALL DIFFERENT!

Mimosa cackled into her tea cup. Her brother was such a dreamer, and she wondered if he’d follow his aching heart and climb the tower in search of his ‘true love.’
Having grown tired of his romantic notions, she decided to give him something to romance about. The castle was an ideal setting for love stuck souls, though of course no-one would be waiting as she’d made it all up. Once he got over the disappointment, he’d forgive her for her prank. He always did.

Eric turned at the sound of gentle footsteps behind him.
A young girl of about 15 with the most enormous brown eyes and golden hair was staring at him in the moonlight.
‘What are you doing here?’ she asked.
‘I could ask you the same question. Isn’t it late for you to be out alone?’
‘Oh, I’m not alone,’ she said smiling. ‘The Moon Goddess told me to come and I’ve got you for company now.’
Eric felt himself blush as she tucked her tiny hand in his.
‘Shall we go?’ she asked.
‘Er, sure. Where?’
‘Home. I live understairs in the North Tower.’

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
