Photo Challenge #320

Nekneeraj is our host for the Tuesday Photo Challenge, and his choice is a definite blast from the past for me!

She got tired listening to the radio in the car all the time. It was always the same drivel and inane banter of some hyped-up-on-their-own-ego DJ, so most times she drove anywhere in silence.
At home, she had a new music centre, one that not only had a turntable and a radio, but a cassette deck.
COOL!
For hours, she would play her records and now she could record them onto a tape and play them non stop, as one entire album fitted on one side. She had a little portable player which she took in the car now, placing it on the passenger seat and could listen to her chosen albums whenever she wished. OK, it was manual and she had to turn the tape over, but it was a start.

The time came when she had to replace her car, and top of the list was that it had to have a cassette player on board. People laughed that it was an expensive reason to get one, but she stood firm and purchased a tidy little hatchback with said deck in place.
Many happy hours were spent behind the wheel as she travelled for miles singing along to her favourites, the tapes on a continuous loop.
That was until disaster struck and the tape jammed.
In trying to remove it (she had pulled over), she was met with yards and yards of brown spaghetti. The tape was ruined, and she never played another in case the same thing happened, so it was back to the radio and the same DJ with the same script, or silence.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
