Today is Sunday 14th June

Guess Summer has gone on vacation as the day is dull and overcast, but at least it’s not windy, not raining, and actually quite warm.
I’ve walked the dog after a relatively late start, she having got me up at 5 and 6 am and not do anything!!!
I met up with a lady in her 80s who had the same op as me 20 odd years ago. She has a little cockapoo and it was nice to walk with someone and catch up as apart from waves or hellos from across the way or behind the gate, we’d had little contact. We were able to keep our distance with no problem at all and it extended the walk by at least ten minutes!

It has been a really bad week on the diet front. I lost a pound last week (weigh in is tomorrow) and I’ve put that back on. Boredom has been a killer and both of us have been snacking throughout the day. This works for Hubby, but not for me as the day (or in this case most of the week) is just one long snack.
At least we’ve been out walking the dog, some days her having as many as 6 walks, but we’ve also watched a couple of weird Sci-fi movies on a channel Hubby has recently found on the internet and played darts in the hall. Other than that and a couple of car trips to the vet and shopping, we haven’t done anything except eat!!

The ‘non essential’ shops are due to open tomorrow and we envisage everyone out in force and desperation to spend. We intend to give it a few days before we even think about venturing out to look at laptops or sheds, give the people time for the novelty to wear off or realise that costs have gone up since the lockdown as businesses are trying to recoup their losses.

Curry for dinner today. The sultanas are soaking with the spices and stock cube, and I’ll cook the chicken separately so that Maggie can have some for her dinner and I can crumble in her glucosamine. Only 3 more days of antibiotics and hopefully Tuesday will show she’s in the clear. If her appetite is anything to go by, though she is what my Mum would have called ‘nice hungry’ (haven’t we all been this week, sigh), there’s no problem there and she should actually be pot-bellied!
I didn’t post very much yesterday as my inspiration took a breather. There are some photo and word challenges in the pipeline for today so hopefully something will register in my head. We shall see.

Take care and keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Enjoy your day. Another dvd day for me.

all anyone is doing is eating. Social media is awash with photos of the food everyone is cooking and all the bread, cake and cookies they are baking. And everyone is complaining about gaining weight. When you’re home this much it’s hard to avoid the kitchen.

  3. Things are going up in price and many of the old buy one get one…. type deals are being restricted.

    • Haven’t seen any BOGOF offers for months, but then we’ve just wanted to get what’s on our list and get home. Yorkshire tea bags have gone up another 10p a box (80 + 40) at £2.59. Before lockdown, they were £2.29.

Snacking is a real diet breaker for me too! I’ve been good though and my snacks have been fresh fruit – cherries, peaches and strawberries. Sparky has his jalapeño cheese puffs which I will not touch with a 10 foot pole! So I’m safe so far but Tuesday is grocery day and I’m always tempted… Glad to hear that Maggie is doing so well!

    • Thank you. We take her to the vet on Tuesday and are hoping for good news.
I’ve not snacked today, just stuck to breakfast, dinner and cereal and yogurt for my third meal. Weigh in tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed I’m still in target.

Hope Maggie is in the clarn on Tuesday! My fingers and toes are crossed! It was dull and overcast here too yesterday, although in the early evening it warmed up a little bit!
