Thanks to Yves for a fabulous picture to work with this week!
For this week’s prompt we are going fantasy. Generally we write from the perspective of the hero, the villain, or the damsel in distress but for this week’s prompt I want you to write from the perspective of a “guardian”. Generally heroes on quests go traipsing into places where they are not welcome and take various items with which to complete or fund their quests. Occasionally the guardian is willing to part with an item once they have tested the heroes credentials/integrity but sometimes the hero pulls a smash and grab. Your guardian can be noble, helpful, sage-like, they can be greedy, vindictive, and cruel, you could even go with a comedic perspective (ex: the guardian perceives the hero as a thief and reports them to local authorities for robbery). The choice is yours!
This is my post and I am the Sentinel for this Holy Place.
I have been chosen for my rarity, an honour I accepted with pride. White dragons are a gift from the Gods, patient, all seeing, all caring, all knowing.
Not for me to bluster with fire as my neighbour did trying to impress me. The fool set fire to his island reducing it to volcanic ash, eternal flame and a living hell.
No, I shall remain here, tall and strong for all eternity.
The symbols etched in the rock upon which I stand are sacred. They are the final writings for those who pass here as I am their Guide and Guardian to the Afterlife.
