Today is Thursday 11th June

The day has dawned chilly and blowy, so the heating is back on. This is ridiculous as it’s June and we should be enjoying more sunny days that what we’re getting!
It would appear we are in for a stormy day as the wind hit gusts of 70mph in the early hours and is currently a steady (and not really welcome) 30 mph.
I’ve walked the dog, which was brisk in more ways than one, and everything in that department is good now. I didn’t see a single soul, unlike yesterday when our not-doing social distancing neighbour joined me en route. I told him that I had to keep Maggie away from his dog, a woolly rough collie lassie dog of eight, as she had an infection, and that was enough to keep him on his side of the road. Today though it was just me, Maggie, the wind and all that sniffable grass, but we were still home within 20 minutes.

Dinner today is chili, so I’ve taken the tomatoes out of the fridge so that they can acclimatize to room temperature which brings out the flavour. No doubt there is no scientific data to back that up, but I discovered that serving or using them straight from the fridge seemed to diminish the taste.

The saga with my phone isn’t resolved, though Hubby managed to divert whatever it was being downloaded into a security file which we can’t access because I don’t know the pin number to unlock it, but at least it’s out of the way. I’m still annoyed and maybe when places are open we can go into one of these ‘expert’ shops and get it deleted. I’ve got a note of all the important numbers though in case I lose the lot as they ‘tinker’.

On with the day and I have no idea what we’re doing. No appointments, no plans, and in all honesty, not much inclination to do anything anyway. I’ve started a shopping list for our next ‘big shop’ but that won’t be until next week at the earliest. We did a little bit of ‘I fancy’ shopping last night on the way back from collecting Hubby’s prescription for a finger infection, and he said it was really depressing as the shelves were practically bare.

Keep safe everyone. Just had a thought that rainbows are upside down smiles!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

It’s boring here too Di. Yhese days just drag now. Bare shelves eh? That is awful. Glad you can get to another place.

I have had heating on last couple of days and including today. I have felt as fed up as the weather is, this week.
I am ready for my weekend. A lazy one.

    • Our weekends are more or less the same as weekdays, but if the weather’s good, at least we can get up on the beach for a walk. With this wind, we’d be battered and blinded by the sand.

At least you’ve got the file contained.

  4. Wish we could trade you some of our scorching heat.
This morning though I got up very early to get Molly’s walk in before it was too hot and was thrilled a little front had managed to come by so the humidity was lower and almost pleasant. We got back just as the sun was heating things up again.
Had to laugh – we use our dog as an excuse to keep distance ..”Miss Muddy Paws jumps on people…” I think Molly also grins and laughs about that.
Enjoy the unscheduled time! So rare

Sorry to hear you are in a cold snap! It was very windy here due to the remnants of the tropical storm Cristobal moving north… We are a long way from the gulf but eventually we get a little fallout from the big storms. Such good news that Maggie is doing well! Enjoy your muffins!

Tomatoes do taste much better at room temperature.
