Michael’s challenge this week:
This week our topic is ‘Protest’. We have seen a lot on our news services about protests in the past few weeks.
What is your take on it?
Have you been involved in a protest?
Were you a part of a recent protest?
Write a story reflecting your response to this prompt.
I’ve never been involved in a protest, current or otherwise, but that doesn’t mean to say I don’t have an opinion. Quite honestly scenes that are unfolding in our larger cities and towns are frightening, especially now.
Things are getting out of hand, and I feel we are being taken back decades into the past.
There always seems to be a cause, a calling, yet currently this leads to unruly behaviour, riots, vandalism and all out destruction just for the hell of it as to me it sure isn’t relevant to the point.
What can I say?
All Lives Matter, and shouldn’t be determined by race, colour, beliefs, tradition, or origins.
Let’s fast forward two or three weeks, and how many of those people protesting in the crowds will be infected with Covid 19?
How about all those lives these protestors have put at risk?
Who will protest for those who lose theirs because of someone else’s stupidity and selfishness?
Who will protest for the shattered lives of families, children, parents and friends who lose loved ones to a current invisible enemy that has no respect for age, background or colour?
Not many, I’ll bet.
Your point well made Di. Tonight our news was reporting that marches organised for the coming weekend will be considered illegal because of covid fears and I think that is right as the last thing we want is a spike in the number of cases.
Nope! Your spot on /Di! Its so selfish to protest! People need to calm down!
They are putting so many lives at risk. Great take on the prompt, Di
I think so. Scares me.
Me too. But I’ve got no option. I have to go to work everyday
At least being retired has its advantages!
Oh. It surely does. I have a long way to go 😂
I’ve still got a couple of years to qualify for my State Pension, but glad I took my works pension in 2006 else I would have lost entitlement when the Bank was sold and they only honoured existing pensioners.
Ohhh that was a good decision. I’m glad you didn’t lose it.
Likewise as apart from two tiny annuities that equate to just £150 a year in total, it’s my only income.
Oh. That’s hard. You have to be take careful with the budget
It’s what I’m good at, and according to the government’s official website, we are in severe poverty!!! We’ve always lived frugally, so it’s the norm for us. We actually live quite well and within our means, but it does help not having a mortgage or rent to pay then we’d really be sunk.
Yes. Those are the stuff that can eat away your income and your savings too!
