What do you see #33

Many thanks to Sadje for hosting this photo challenge.

(For visual challenged readers, the image shown is a boy standing next to a Stegosaurus, dinosaur in a park land)

Dezi patted his friend on the nose.
‘It doesn’t matter,’ he said.
Egos hung his head in acute embarrassment.
‘It does,’ he said sadly. ‘You are one of the few who weren’t afraid of me when you realised I was real. Some whizz kid in a science lab got carried away with DNA testing and I was the result, though I’d been tossed out with the trash before he realised it. Hiding in the park as a statue has been lonely save for you and the others who have given me so much over the years and I can’t do this one thing for you in return.’
Dezi looked into the enormous yellow eye about to shed a tear.
‘Oh don’t’ he begged. ‘I wish I’d never asked now.’
Trying to lighten the mood, Egos nudged his pocket.
‘Got any smarties left? You know I’m rather partial to chocolate.’
‘You’re a herbivore. You’re supposed to eat plants!’ Dezi said as he produced a tube and shook some out into his palm.
Munching contentedly, Egos said
‘Who do you think cuts the grass here? And for free! No wires, no batteries required, just a strong jaw that chews when people are looking the other way!’
Dezi laughed and said
‘I’ll buy that.’
Egos looked at him and nudged his pocket again.
‘Seriously though, I may not be able to fly, but I can give you a ride any time. Climb aboard!’

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
