Lots to report today!
First: the meds are doing their thing and Maggie is on the mend. Sadly, the poo has taken a backward step, but at least it’s clearupable.
Second: our Plan B for the screen curtain sort of worked, except it was too short and too light in the wind. Still, I have another idea and amendment which shall be explored tomorrow when we take the unsuitable item back for a refund.
Third: Hubby has replaced the venetian blind in the small bedroom as two of the slats had split, and he’d already replaced previous broken ones with the spares ‘down under’ that we’d left when we adjusted the height originally.
Fourth: Hubby has got himself a trundle trolley. He’s been after one for a while, even though we had nowhere to actually put it, but with the slabs for the shed base coming next week, it will be a godsend rather than trying to carry them from point A to point B. Hopefully the delivery guys will put them out back rather than leave them on the drive,
Fifth: we’ve had a blitz in the kitchen having found that ants were getting in, so it was all out war trying to find where and how. We’ve had the freezer, washing machine and cooker out and emptied the cupboards. We’ve sprayed everywhere with Dethlac and puffed with Nippon ant powder.
Outside we raked back all the loose stone, checked the water and gas pipes pipes into the house and along the damp proof course, and again sprayed and puffed.
No nest as such, but some pretty miffed insects. Hubby will buy me some more chrysanths and we can use the dried petals as we did last year which kept them out.
Sixth: I intended to send an email to the council today asking when they were going to come and cut the grass in our road and the cut through. As it turned out, I didn’t have to.
Like buses, you don’t see one for ages then three come along at once!
We had a guy with a strimmer, another on a sit-on mower, and a third with a leaf blower thingie cos there was no way they’ve vacuumed up the cuttings! I wouldn’t have been surprised if there was a mad exodus of wildlife, especially as someone had seen a snake in the long grass. It could have been a slow worm, but imagine the potential lawsuit should a child have been bitten by an adder because the grass hadn’t been cut.
Got a gem coming up for you next as it deserves a post all to itself!
Keep well and safe everyone.
The two of you have certainly been busy! You’ll sleep well tonight!
I hope so Fransi. I only got about four hours again last night.
I was up all night myself with a very sore back. Let’s hope we all sleep tonight
I sympathise as I’ve had back trouble for years and have to be careful.
It’s a common ailment but that doesn’t make it any easier to bear.
My own fault really as I carried too much heavy coinage when I worked in the bank and strained it. This was compounded when I worked for the vending machine company and was sorting the cash runs in thousands of pounds, not just a couple of hundred!
That’s what we do. We abuse our bodies when we’re young and then we pay for it later. We all do it.
Yep. I don’t think ten pin bowling twice a week helped much either!
Haha! Probably not. Or sitting hunched over a computer like I do for hours and hours at a time without getting up and stretching and walking around.
Office work was a bitch for those reasons. I had a timer that went off every hour to remind me to get up and walk about else my knees and legs wouldn’t work either!
Wish I’d thought of that. I have knee problems too.
Hubby bought it for me and I could set it for 15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes. Frightened my co-workers to death the first time it went off!
Ha! I can imagine.
Glad Maggie is getting on the mend. Let’s hope not too much disruption for her in the digestive department and that she remains free of any other infections.
Yes, the trundle trolley will be a god send than carrying and you never know, it may come in use for other projects.
Always.
Good day for you all.
apart from the ant invasion!
Not a good day for them 🐜🐜🐜
Wow you’ve been very productive! Me – well I managed to wash the shower curtain and do a load of laundry besides. Other than that I did a little sewing and went for a walk… quite the lazy day today. Sparky (my husband) was up and down all night with an intestinal ailment. He’s napped today and says he doesn’t want chili soup for dinner. So it looks like I’m going to have to figure out something else. Maybe some cream of rice cereal…
We have days like that too.. Today hasn’t gone at all as I’d expected or planned. I’m exhausted, and the dog is being unco-operative in the bedtime wee stakes, so I’ll probably have to get up in the night.
I hope the fly screen gets fixed soon 💜
We’re good into the house, and the greenhouse screen is working a treat.
Excellent 💜
