Weekend Writing Prompt #158 – Downpour

Sammi’s challenge:
A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.

It had been threatened and lurking for days, weeks even, but nothing ever came of the forecasts. The sky was a dark purple grey, and the air so heavy, you could hardly move.
Walking the dog was hot and uncomfortable, then we had the downpour of all downpours. Laughing, we sang and danced in the rain, it was so heavenly.
We were refreshed, the air was clean, we were wet but happy and drove home.
Our drive was under six inches of water. Our door threshold was seven.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I remember your post about it. It’s good to get drenched in the rain sometimes.

I love that we both enjoyed the downpour!
Of course that threshold is awful close…

  3. I just had a Gene Kelly moment! Hopefully, you’ve dried out now.
