Good morning all, and yes, I have surfaced early this morning. Nothing to do with the dog who slept through until 6, just up, showered and breakfasted, all before 8am!
It is warm and sunny-ish as the yellow orb is playing hide and seek through clouds, but saying that, the day holds promise.
Hubby was up earlier than me and apparently there were two ducks on our lawn. Word may have got around, but they didn’t get fed.
No plans today, and dinner is a mystery as the jury’s out because we can’t decide. Hubby quite fancied a McCheese, then thought of the fat content and changed his mind. As I hadn’t taken anything out of the freezer, next suggestion was jacket spud, tuna and mixed veg. All tempting until I saw the pathetic marbles in the veg rack all of which were starting to sprout, so hey…………. more spuds to plant!
I haven’t done a vegetable lasagna for a while, but that was cheese again so thoughts sort of drifted towards a vegetable curry. Hm. Nothing ‘meaty’ other than carrots to go in that and somehow carrot curry doesn’t hold much appeal. Good standby then is fish for Hubby and a pasta bake for me, but we had that a couple of days ago. At the moment an old budget favourite is currently in the lead, which is beans on toast with an egg on the top. Talk about pushing the boat out and living the high life.
I used to hate Sundays in Days before Hubby as I spent nearly all of it in the kitchen. If I wasn’t baking, I was preparing a meal or washing up after one. I can’t remember the last time I did a traditional roast. Roasties and yorkshires out of the freezer don’t really count, but unless we’re expecting visitors (big joke as we don’t have any) it’s not really practical for the two of us. When I was working, Hubby didn’t think it was fair to spend all of Sunday morning cooking dinner when we could be out for a drive and relaxing.
