Today is Monday, 4th May

AKA Star Wars day (May the 4th be with you……… OK, I know, old joke now).

Today being Monday is weigh in day and I am glad to report to SW a loss of a whole pound (I’ve done the sock washing) so I am bang on target.
This gives me a little leeway for next week’s intention for cheesecake.

We are waiting for a home visit for another INR check for Hubby as last week’s results were scary. A different nurse this time, but we know her too and she is equally lovely.
They are not allowed inside the house, so we have improvised by putting a chair for her equipment outside with an umbrella over it as it’s been raining. Last week it was a beautiful day but our nurse had to put the equipment on the floor as she worked on the other side of the gate. We try to be as helpful as we can in making a difficult time easier.
Hurrah! A decent poo in the garden this morning. I had a theory which may now bear out in that the new recipe chews were not helping the situation. We’d already ascertained cheap biscuits were a no-no and a month or so ago had been unable to get her chews for a few weeks. We had some in the cupboard, but the new stock are shorter, a lighter colour and different texture so something has changed. She’s OK having half, but a whole one seems to upset the balance. We were talking about getting old and how our own diets have changed over the past couple of years because of our personal reflux issues. Seems Maggie is joining the ranks so it’s very much trial and error, though we stand by our thoughts that too many antibiotics over a short period of time screwed her system. It’s not her fault and she has been feeling very sorry for herself, but hopefully we’re getting there now.

We were going to have stew for the next three days but I forgot to soak the lentils etc overnight again so we’ll have that tomorrow and something else today. Hubby fancies fish, so I’ll do a vegetable pasta for me.

Onward with the day then. Hope yours is good. Take care everyone.

I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Wonderful news about Maggie and congratulations on your weight loss. Most people are gaining weight because everyone is cooking, baking and subsequently eating up a storm because of boredom.

May the 4th be with you too! 😀 – This joke may be old, but it isn’t going away! 😀
Amazing how the nurses are able to do home visits and check ups in a very difficult situation. 🙂

I suppose I will watch a couple Star Wars movies tonight! I made fish last night and it was delicious! If you want the recipe let me know (it is very easy and oh so good).
