Tale Weaver – #273 – I Remember Once…

Michael’s Tale Weaver Challenge this week is as follows:
This week write your response to the notion of “I Remember Once”….it could be a piece of nostalgia, it could be a reflection on your current situation if you are stuck at home or you write where the prompt takes you.

I remember once when life was simple
No stress or worries as someone else took the strain.
I remember once I had dreams of love and family,
But try as I might, my dreams turned to nothing.
I remember once having a job I loved,
Money in the bank, and friends with whom to socialise.
I remember once being out of work for months,
Alone and anxious, scared and insecure.
I remember once being afraid of my own shadow,
But someone turned on the lights and I could see.
I remember once meeting a stranger
But within minutes we were lifelong friends.
One chance in a lifetime that changed everything.
How well I remember.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Life is so often like that Di, those chance moments where so much changes. Thanks for your thoughts this week.

Nostalgia brings good memories and the not so good ones. Very well written.

  3. Those moments change everything. Yet we often miss them and we have no idea if it’s for the better or worse.

  4. murisopsis says:

Life is a series of moments that have the potential to be that once upon a time… We just have to grab them.

  5. This is so lovely. Yes, one moment can change our lives, thankfully.
