Today is Monday 27th April

My day started at 5.10 when Maggie wanted to go out. I dragged myself out of bed, donned joggers, slippers and a coat and let her outside into the garden. No messing about, squat of the bot, and back to bed.
Up again at 6, just wanted to sniff around this time.
By 7 she was whinging so I let her out again, then decided to give up trying to get back to sleep and got dressed.
I took her for a walk at 8, no poos, but two wees, and of course because it had been raining we had to refresh our familiarity with the grass……….. practically every blade. A ten minute walk took me forty minutes.
The air is fresh after the much needed rain and the garden is harmonious with joy at having a drink.

Monday is weigh in day, and I’ve had another sock gain.
This makes two pairs in the last few weeks, but I’ve been comfort eating and somehow two packets of chocolate biscuits and some peanut bars leapt off the shelf into the shopping trolley when I went in. Hubby will be doing the honours from now on.  I’m still two pounds within target though, but I will be making a better effort this week to try and bounce the scales the other way.
We have invaders in the greenhouse that have a passion for radishes and we have lost every single shoot to ANTS! The ant powder has been applied and so have the dried chrysanthemum petals. We shall be going up the road later to buy flowers so that we can start again as this little tip we picked up last year really works and kept them out of the house.

Not much else on the agenda today. Last day of our three day stew for lunch, then tomorrow fish for Hubby and a pasta bake for me.

Keep safe and well everyone.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. The struggle to keep weight off during times of crisis is very real, Di. I have the opposite problem and struggle to eat when I am stressed or anxious. My mother said today that she is making pasta tonight to fatten me up.

    • I’m my own worst enemy and know where I’ve been going wrong, so there’s no-one to blame. I’ve kept within target since reaching it in August so am well pleased with that, and still have a couple of pounds leeway now. Hubby is eating little and often (4 or 5 time a day) for other reasons and although he says not, I think the weight is dropping off him, and he doesn’t need to lose any!

Interesting tip about the dried chrysanthemum leaves. Hubby has the same problem as you with random goodies hurling themselves into his trolley! Have a good day.💜

  3. I didn’t know that ants eat radish shoots!

  4. Sadje says:

I never knew ants ate radishes!

  5. First people are forced inside – then ants attack the supplies – It’s a plot, I say. HAHA
Oh, to be able to go buy flowers! Begging winter’s survivors to hang in there otherwise the yard will look so bare this spring.
    Take care

That’s an early start to the day!
Good luck with the ants – and the diet. 🙂

  7. Thanks for keeping everyone up to date (literally). I would lose track of the days, but for your timely reminders! 😀 Pudge is a whiner, he’s been pawing my leg insistently and that usually means he needs to go out. I got up and let him out and all he did was sniff the grass. Wanted to come right back in, even though it’s 75 outside and sunny and really nice. His #2s have been really soft (almost diarrhea) so I’m not going to ignore it when he whines though. Pets are so funny and entertaining. What would this virus enclosure be without them?

OH! Let me know if you got my comments on your SYW and the linked post you provided talking about people we immediately dislike for no apparent reason, would you? They didn’t show up..and my end of things (commenting) can be wonky.

    • Have seen one comment on the SYW…….. it’s not you though, I’m late going through everything today. Hubby got me involved in calculations for his shed! I still haven’t got through my reader!!!

    • Oh, know what you mean about #2s. Maggie’s are mustard yellow and soft. It would help if the council cut the grass then it would be easier to clear up after her, but I do my best (e-ew). Hope Pudge is OK.

Sparky has purchased seeds for Arugula of all things. I hope the rabbits leave it alone (but I’m not too hopeful). Maggie sounds like our Ranger when he got old – and now that I’m getting to be “of a certain age” I know how it feels to have to get up every 1-2 hours to go to the bathroom!
