Garden and greenhouse update

I’ve been taking more pictures now that we’ve got something positive to show as I was sure you wouldn’t want to see boring patches of dirt!

OK then, on the window sill in the bedroom I have 10 tomato plants out of the 12 I potted.
Out in the greenhouse, we have
Runner beans from beans given to us by neighbours on the other side.

Left three pots are peppers, far right is a cucumber

Late starter bean (and hopefully there will be one more)

and outside are The Minions
Not to be outdone, we have flowers too!!

Our clematis arch looks like this:
and this is a close up of the flowers starting to come out
We also had a pair of blackbirds in the garden this afternoon, and I got these pictures of the male (I think it’s a male blackbird!) with my Nikon through the bedroom window:
Blackbirds have an average life expectancy of around 3½ years, though the oldest one recorded was 20 years and 3 months! (source)

All other pics were taken with my phone. Hope you’ve enjoyed them.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Spring has truly arrived at your house! My trees are just starting to bud and I still don’t have any daffodils. My husband has graded the dirt in the garden and mixed in his fertilizer. Another couple of weeks and he’ll plant the peas and beans. I’ve got my fingers crossed that he will be able to find some tomato plants this year!

    • We planted two sets of seeds and nothing came of them, so we ditched that packet and bought some more. They’ve taken their time, this is the third week on the sill!

  2. Wonderful, Di, you are so industrious.

Lovely photos and nice to see an update on how it’s all growing.

    • It’s going really well!

I am surprised just how hot it is inside my flat since this afternoon. It is still scorching.

      • Our lounge is at the front of the house and gets the sun in the mornings, whereas the bedrooms get the sun in the afternoons so it’s warm going to bed.

        Nice.

My living room has two windows, so basically I get sun all day. It comes through one at morning and comes round early afternoon via the other.
Later, when it gets hotter is when I have to close curtains for a bit in the afternoon so I don’t roast.
My bedroom gets it in the afternoon so will be warm in there.

      • We have a floor fan for the lounge if it gets too hot, and Hubby fitted a ceiling fan in the main bedroom last year as I get so hot and the dog was having problems in the heat. It works out very well.

I have a floor fan too. It will be on later when too hot regular and at night in my bedroom at some point. If like last year.

I have a question. How to keep plants inside my room without attracting mosquitoes 😅?
