Today is Sunday 19th April

Unlike the 3TC, Fibbing Friday and Take Seven, I don’t schedule these posts for two reasons:
1) It helps me keep track of the days
and
2) depending on the weather, time I get up, etc determines the content and tries to keep to a normal routine.

Normal.
Things are more or less as they were for us, but the worst part is not being able to have our field trips just for something to do or to go shopping more often.
With the latter though, that’s not necessarily a bad thing and we are actually saving money. By replacing what we use, we have our three days stews for £1 stewpack plus extra potatoes and carrots, and today was day one of a two day chili.
We bought 500g of 5% fat minced beef yesterday for £2.89 and got three packs out of it, one of which went into today/tomorrow’s meal.
My recipe is easy:
to the cooked mince add four fresh chopped tomatoes, an onion, 2 stock cubes today (appears they’ve changed the recipe and you get less flavour per cube), a tin of red kidney beans, glove of garlic (optional) and chili powder to suit your personal taste (½ a teaspoon for us).
Serve with rice and tomorrow a jacket potato for me, but rice for Hubby (and Maggie).
Dessert today was black forest fruit from the freezer and greek yogurt. Sadly, the ‘Finest’ was too rich for her and made the situation worse, so she’s only had one dollop of it and that was that.
She is forever looking at us and leading us to the doggy cupboard or her bowl when she’s polished off whatever was put down. Not much fun with just rice, though this morning she had her egg with some boiled chicken in it, and so far has had three small portions of rice, two of those with chicken. I’ve got another small piece of chicken defrosting so I can cook that later for her and it should be enough for the rest of today and tomorrow.
She slept really well last night and when I walked her this morning, at least I could clear up after her, but had to be quick closing the bag. Her nose is cold and shiny, her eyes bright and she still wants to go for her walks, which we are keeping local and short.

We have excitement in the greenhouse, and pictures will be forthcoming.
FINALLY I have a tomato seedling in the bedroom. One out of over 20 planted is not good odds in my book, but one is better than zero!

Keep safe and well everyone. Off to walk her ladyship now.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
