Tale Weaver – #271 – Fairy Tale – What The Fairies Think

Michael’s challenge this week:
This week as we continue on in our self-isolating, stay at home, consider the plight of the fairies living in or around your place.

You know where they are, in the garden, under the bed, in the kitchen cupboards but they are sure to be living happily somewhere around your place.

Write a story/fairytale in which you explore how they are reacting/coping with their human ‘friends’ being home all the time.
Have you heard?
Lockdown for another three weeks.
Damn. We won’t be able to go anywhere.
Exactly. What are we going to do?
Stay out of their way, that’s what.
But what are we going to eat?
There’s bound to be something in the cupboards.
There used to be, but not much now.
What? No biscuits?
No cake?
Apparently flour and eggs are in short supply.
What about rice and pasta.
Oh yeah, got loads of that, but nothing to go with it.
What about tins?
Yep, got loads of those, but have you tried opening one with those ring pull thingies? Way too hard for our minute muscles. Even Fairzilla can’t get to grips with that.
Guess we’ll have to forage then.
Forage. You know, what we used to do before we got used to modern living, food on tap, central heated nooks and crannies.
But I hate foraging!
Yeah, well so do I, but I wanna eat. You coming?

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I think it might be closer to the truth than we’d like to admit if all this goes on too long. Thanks for your thoughts this week Di.

    • We’re in lockdown in the UK for at least another three weeks. For us personally it’s not too bad, but I know some people are going stir crazy. Take care

What a pity plight for all 😦
