Memoirs of a Soap

Hubby and I don’t have a TV, and have not had one since 2007.
Bear in mind that even when we had one, we did not tune in to The Soaps, aka Eastenders, Emmerdale, Home and Away, Neighbours, or the longest running of them all, Coronation Street which first hit the TV screens in December 1960.
Hubby and I have been together 31 years, and have not viewed a single episode of bubble together.

So, when I see Fandango’s word prompt Potpourri today, the first thing that leapt into my head was Emily Bishop (nee Nugent) and Percy Sugden of the latter arguing over potpourri as a room freshener.

Funny how the mind thinks!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. I don’t watch television either, Di. I haven’t watched a movie for 3 years either. My boys play games on the TV sometimes and my husband sometimes watches sport, otherwise it is rather defunct in my house.

no TV – that is awesome!

    • The good news is that we don’t miss it. We’ve visited friends and watched theirs but soon become bored with the same old re-runs, films we either have no interest in or already have our own copies of, and it’s sad when some of the ads are better than the programmes!

🙂 so true………I gave up commercial tv about a year and a half ago and I don’t miss it one bit. But I do watch YouTube and Netflix.
