Extending the junk plot

Hubby and I have been out in the garden today. I have to be honest, it was not the way I had intended to spend the afternoon, but Christmas can wait and we actually got a lot done.

We are going to get a shed. When is anybody’s guess, but things have to be sorted in the garden for somewhere to put it as we did with the greenhouse.
So today Hubby decided to sort out the mini man closet, and basically took on more than he could chew. The garden was a mess and he asked me to give him a hand.
We have therefore moved the closet and put it on a solid base so that the bigger man cave can go against the back wall of the house when we get the shed.
The turf removed to level the new site has been turned upside down and put adjacent to the junk plot which is where we have planted our seed potatoes. We have a lemon plant there and I was also pleased to note the mint is coming up again.
We’ve got rid of the ballerina apple tree.  It did nothing last year, not a single flower, and this year is totally dead. We won’t be getting a replacement. We’ve kept the gooseberry bush, but disposed of the blackberry, blueberry and raspberry bushes as they did nothing last year.
These are the Minion patches. Ou r original raised bed wasn’t big enough so Hubby dug over another square and we’ve planted 100 minions onions.
These are our sprouting seedlings, the cucumber in on the left, and the peppers on the right. The green beans, tomatoes Mk II, beetroot, radishes and carrot haven’t shown their faces above the dirt yet.

It’s all coming together.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

The two of you are definitely going to sleep well tonight! That is a lot of labour, but it will be so worth it when you can just go into your garden and pick what you want.

  2. I grew up on a farm so fresh fruit and veg was plentiful. It’s so satisfying if you can grow your own 🙂 ~Marie~

My husband was working in the yard too. He prepared the raised beds but we haven’t planted anything. The temp was up to 70F which was a wonderfully warm day.
