Take Seven: April 3rd 2020

It’s Friday! Welcome to my Take Seven compilation which incorporates all 21 words (or derivatives) from the Three Things Challenge for the past week.
You are most welcome to join in using as many or all of the words too. Just pingback to this post and then leave a link to your post in the comments so that I can see it and respond directly.
As always, have fun, and I hope you enjoy this week’s effort.

Our words were:
background, buns, cake, eerie, evening, handle, honesty, humour, joke, lark, mike, nose, path, piece, prank, remote, rock, silent, trash, violin, wire.

Mike lived in a remote part of the village, and the path up to his front door was eerie to say the least. He had a cheeky sense of humour and when she saw the bell was in the shape of a huge nose, it made her smile. She twisted the handle and let herself in.
Somehow the rock music in the background wasn’t exactly what she was expecting as in all honesty, she’d hoped for a romantic evening and had baked a special cake for dessert. She too could come up with a prank or two, and hoped he would see the joke.
Suddenly the music stopped and everything went silent.
‘You’re early,’ he announced fumbling with a wire behind the stereo.
‘Is that a problem?’ she replied.
‘Nah. What ya got there?’
‘Dessert. Can I help?’
‘Only if you know anything about electrics?’
‘You’re having a lark ain’t cha?
‘Sorta. I’ll just trash the idea of a wild night then and serenade you instead.’
With that, he pulled a violin out of its case and played for her.
She was gobsmacked at the beauty of the piece and how it moved her.
‘That was wonderful’, she sighed when he’d finished.
‘Now, you said something about dessert.’
‘But we haven’t eaten yet!’
He lifted the lid on the box and grinned up at her.
‘Hm. Nice buns. Can I have a slice?’

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  3. You did a great job incorporating 21 random words into a cute story. πŸ™‚ My first chuckle this morn (7:30 a.m. here) was that special cake the joker gentleman’s date’s cake. Oh my! LOL
