It’s Friday! 3rd April

Hello! Friday was always a POETS day for me when I was working. I did a thirty five hour week, hours being 8.30 to 5 Monday to Thursday and 8.30 to 2.30 on Fridays.
That half day was a godsend as I could go and pick up my Mum for the weekend as it was more awkward for her to meet me from work after my redundancy, but on one particular Friday, WE GOT MAGGIE!
We travelled about three hundred miles that afternoon, ending up in Axminster having seen an advert for Sprollie pups in the Western Gazette.ย  If we hadn’t had the satnav, we would never have found the farm, but we did, and the rest as they say, is history.
Last night we tried to get some potatoes, carrots and onions, but stocks had been depleted everywhere. It’s not just food shortages though, our local discount supermarket was down to three staff, some being on annual leave. This meant no shelves were being restocked, and when a delivery came in, there was no-one to unload it. I reckon those lads didn’t leave the premises until the early hours.

We’ve been out in the garden today planting potatoes, carrots and the minions went in yesterday. I just hope they grow quick LOL! We have also put in some radishes, beetroot and five runner beans in pots. Bean Watch is on guys ‘n’ gals!
Tom and Jerry were non starters I’m afraid. Hubby tipped the pots out and there was no growth whatsoever, which doesn’t instill us with confidence that the replacements will grow. However, we have used 100% compost this time and can only see what happens.

As always, keep safe and well everyone.

Oh, and for those confused by POETS day, it’s an acronym for Push Off Early Tomorrow’s Saturday.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I hope your veg garden does well. It would be wonderful to just be able to go oitside and get what you need, even when there isnโ€™t a pandemic.

POETS day! Ha ha! I’ve spent much of my working life as a home-based worker, so I didn’t get the same Friday rush. Starting to forget what day it is at the moment. Good luck with the gardening, Di.
