Song Lyric Sunday: 29th March

Our theme today is Touch/Feel.
Thanks Jim as it gives me the chance to go down memory lane of my first job, discos, and my first live concert.

One of my favourite albums from 1973 was Touch Me in The Morning by Diana Ross.
I loved every track and foolishly lent it to a friend who never gave it back.

[Verse 1:]
Touch me in the morning
Then just walk away
We don’t have tomorrow
But we had yesterday

Hey, wasn’t it me who said
That nothin’ good’s gonna last forever
And wasn’t it me who said
Let’s just be glad for the time together

Must’ve been hard to tell me
That you’ve given all you had to give
I can understand your feelin’ that way
Ev’rybody’s got their life to live

Well, I can say goodbye
In the cold morning light
But I can’t watch love die
In the warmth of the night

If I’ve got to be strong
Don’t you know I need to have tonight
When you’re gone, till you go
I need to lie here and
Think about the last time

[Verse 2:]
You’ll touch me in the morning
Then just close the door
Leave me as you found me
Empty like before

Hey, wasn’t it yesterday
We used to laugh at the wind behind us
Didn’t we run away and hope
That time wouldn’t try to find us

Didn’t we take each other
To a place where
No one’s ever been

Yeah, I really need you
Near me tonight
‘Cause you’ll never take me there again

[Bridge:]
Let me watch you go
With the sun in my eyes
We’ve seen how love can grow
Now we’ll see how it dies
If I’ve got to be strong

Don’t you know I need to have tonight
When you’re gone
Till you go
I need to hold you until the tie
Your hands reach out and

[Verse 3:]
Touch me in the morning
(Then just walk away)
We’re blue and gold
And we could feel one another living
We walked with a dream to hold
And we could take what the world was giving
(We don’t have tomorrow)
There’s no tomorrow here
There’s only love and the time to chase it
(But we had yesterday)
Yesterday’s gone my love
There’s only now and it’s time to face it

As an added bonus, here’s the Detroit Emeralds with Feel the Need in Me, written by Abrim Tilmon.
I saw them live in Reading the year this was released (1972) and they were terrific.

See how I’m walkin’, see how I’m talkin’
Notice everything in me
Feel the need, oh, feel, feel the need in me

I need you by my side to be my guide
Can’t you see my arms are open wide, mmm-mmm
Feel the need, oh, feel, feel the need in me

(I need your love)
Ev’ry day I need it (Love), ev’ry day I want it (Love)
Without your sweet, sweet love I’d rather die

(I need your love)
I need it constantly (Love), your love takes care of me (Love)
Your love is better to me than applepie, oooh

Just put your hand in mine, love me all the time
The proof you will plainly see, mmm-mmm
Feel the need, oh, feel, feel the need in me

Ah
I need you on the case to keep my heart in place
You make me what I need to be, oooh
Feel the need, oh feel, feel the need in me

Oh, your love is tough, now can’t get enough
Girl, your love is so important to me
Feel the need, hey, feel it, feel the need in me

I, I, I, I need you by my side to be my guide
Can’t you see my arms are open wide?
Feel the need, oh feel it, feel the need in me

(I need your love)
Ev’ry day I need it (Love), ev’ry day I want it (Love)
Without your sweet, sweet love I’d rather die

(I need your love)
I need it constantly (Love), your love takes care of me (Love)
Your love is better to me than cherry-pie, oooh

See how I’m walkin’, see how I’m talkin’
Notice everything in me
Feel the need, oh, feel it, feel the need in me, ah, oooh

Just put your hand in mine, love me all the time
The proof you will plainly see
Feel the need, hey, feel it, feel the need in me

See how I’m walkin’
See how talkin’
See how I’m walkin’

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
