Following on from my post A Cat’s Delight,  here is another from 30 odd years ago

Dreams of Childhood Fantasy

When I grow up I’d like to see

A Knight in Armour rescue me

From a castle tower high

Beneath a moon and starlit sky.

A wicked witch would hold me there

In dark and dismal stale dank air,

He’d carry me away, set free

From this, a childhood fantasy.

As years progress, I’ll see the World,

My body tanned, hair bleached and curled,

See the sights, things strange and new,

I’ll be the envy of all of you.

Sail across the oceans wide,

Discover a continent on the new tide,

Conquer the land, name it after Me,

In this, another fantasy.

As time goes by, I’ll be a Queen,

In grandeur never before it seen,

With diamonds, pearls, more riches yet,

My teeth in purest gold be set.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Oh! This is lovely, the fairy tales are always in our mind!
