Hubby and I did something tonight we haven’t done for well over a year.
We talk all the time, so it wasn’t that, however, the last time we did this, we didn’t enjoy it. The pleasure had gone, and it was too much of an effort, plus the end result wasn’t all that good.
Curious?
We played Scrabble.
We used to play this a lot when we were in the cottage, on the boat and also after moving here in 2017. We never play to win, but rather to better our combined score and do the best we can. We even invested in a proper mini scrabble dictionary and have the acceptable 101 2 letter words on a sheet of paper in the box.
That all changed in 2018 with a disastrous summer and a friendship strained to breaking point after thirty years.
Tonight’s game did not start well, our scores were pretty low and on a par with each other. It didn’t help that I was constantly doing a McDonalds and forever picking up Es, Is and Os. I swear there was an extra set of letters in the bag.
Hubby got a triple letter on the J and Q plus a double word on the Z, and I got a double whammy on the X by managing to utilise it twice, one of which was a treble word score.
The end result was a very respectable 585, which is pretty damn good when you consider the highest score of the night was a mere 41!
Actually, it made a really pleasant change from blogging, watching old B&W movies, playing darts, reading the news or playing computer games.
Now to work on tomorrow’s 3TC, Take Seven and of course our Fibbing Friday!
I love a game of Scrabble! I also really want to do your three things Challenge tomorrow as I have been too busy most of the week to fit it in.💜💜💜
No problem Willow. Always pleased to see you here.
Thank you 💜
Haven’t played scrabble in years.
It had been a while, but we enjoyed it tonight.
Sparky is still mad about a challenge to his word “zoot” (which isn’t a word by itself). That was 15 years ago so I’m not sure he is willing to play again… Maybe I’ll ask.
Zoot is a stand alone in the Scrabble dictionary as in Zoot suit, being baggy trousers and a long jacket. Does this help? LOL
I dont know how to play scrabble at all! I am glad you enjoyed the game! Fun fun! Xxx
I wonder if they have braille sets for the blind Carol Anne? I love word games, and used to really enjoy Countdown on C4.
Do you not have Channel 4 now? Countdown is still on every day
We don’t have a TV Carol Anne, and haven’t since 2007. We don’t miss it at all and if we visit anyone, it’s a novelty to watch.
Wow, amazing really di I don’t think I could do without one, I don’t watch a lot of TV like I don’t have it on all day every day but I do like to watch some
We just got fed up with soaps and reruns ad there was nothing of interest except a couple of programmes like NCIS and any nature programme.
