I fully expected a bad night with Maggie, but she curled up beside me when I got back from darts and apart from rolling over twice, didn’t move all night.
She is very subdued, but having been through the effects of an anesthetic myself recently, I can understand!
She doesn’t like it if we’re in different places as she doesn’t know who to stay with as if she’s feeling insecure she goes to Hubby, whereas if she’s feeling unwell, she comes to me. Obviously she’s feeling a little of both so we are having a quiet day, and keeping her within our sights to relieve any anxiety.
The wound doesn’t look very nice, but is clean and so far she hasn’t worried it. I gave her some breakfast with her meds in it this morning and a couple of pieces of sausage from the darts supper. The little minx snorkled out the egg and ate the sausage, but I have some corned beef in reserve to tempt her later. She has had some cheese though and some of her normal dinner, so that is a positive sign.
Our walk this morning produced two wees but no poo, but as she ate hardly anything yesterday, we are not surprised. Hopefully later today for that.
For now though, she’s curled up on her fluffy cushion and sleeping.
I’ve made a cake today to make a change from having biscuits, though Hubby is feeling a little under the weather himself. Nothing fancy, just a plain victoria sponge like this:
This picture was taken in February last year, so it’s been that long since I last made one!
So glad to hear the good news about Maggie. I didn’t get to comment on the post of her surgery. When do you get the results? Fingers crossed and you deserve cake!
The stitches are due to come out on the 6th, so the results should be back by then. We’re leaving the wound alone for now to give it chance to settle, but it looks clean, and she’s eating OK, though we are making sure it’s soft food as her mouth is likely to be tender after losing a tooth.
Funny you should mention cake………. I’ve just baked one, my first it seems for a year!
I’m surprised it wasn’t cheesecake!
On the cards for next week Kate!
Happy to hear that Maggie is doing well.
Thanks Fransi. Just got back from a short but leisurely walk, so we’re trying to keep to our usual routine.
That’s great. Hope your hubby’s sore throat is improving too.
Any excuse for ice cream!!!!
LOL!!! I understand completely 😀
hehe
Maggie will be back to herself in no time, especially when she’s getting so much wonderful care and loving.
We try to do our best for her.
Hope her recovery is quick.
Thanks Sadje. Judging by the way she’s been tucking into her dinner, I think we’re halfway there!
That is great news.
Lovely to hear Maggie is ok and slept well in the night.
Thanks Liz
Sorry that hubby is not 100% and that he will soon be much better. I am so glad Maggie is on the up, and I love the look of the “Yearly Cake” 😜🥴
I guess you could say we’re giving up biscuits for Lent and having cake instead!
Very Marie Antoinette 💜💜
ha! Never thought of that!!
I am sure that Maggie will bounce back quickly and I am sure you are glad it is all over. I hope your hubby recovers quickly.
Thanks Roberta. We’ll get there.
Great that Maggieis eating. That is a really good sign. Sorry to hear about hubby’s sore throat though. That sucks! Good wishes to alk of you xxx
Thanks Lorraine.
That cake looks lovely…does her Nibs get a nibble of it? I’m happy to learn she is feeling better…I think I’ve missed a memo or two and will go back on your timeline and read more. Good days!
She did indeed Melanie as it was just a plain mix, so no chocolate or non-doggy stuff. She’s done really well today, drinking well and really tucked into her dinner, She still likes to know where we both are though, so we won’t be doing anything ‘individual’ for a few days.
Have you had a good day?
